RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia has begun its formal road to the 2026 Asian Games esports competition by submitting entries in nine of the 11 titles that will be contested in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4.
The Indonesian Esports Association (PB ESI), through its National Team Agency (BTN), confirmed the participation via the “entry by number” mechanism as required by organizers. Head coach of Indonesia’s national esports team, Richard Permana, said the entry stage marks an important administrative milestone.
“This entry ensures Indonesia remains on the official pathway toward the Asian Games. We are awaiting technical qualification details from the organizers so we can adjust our next steps in accordance with the prevailing regulations,” Richard said in a written statement received in Jakarta on Thursday, February 12, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
Under the mechanism set by the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Indonesia has entered nine titles: Gran Turismo 7, eFootball, PUBG Mobile, the Martial Arts category (Street Fighter 6, Tekken 8, and King of Fighters XV), Pokémon Unite, Identity V, Honor of Kings, Naraka, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
Indonesia did not enter League of Legends (PC) and Puyo Puyo Champions (PC).
PB ESI emphasized that entry by number is only the initial administrative phase and does not automatically secure a place in the main competition. All participating countries must still undergo qualification, which will be organized by the Asian Games committee (AINAGOC) in coordination with the respective game publishers.
The official qualification format and schedule are expected to be announced in March 2026, with the results determining which nations advance to the main event.
PB ESI considers the qualification stage a crucial step toward the 2026 Asian Games and said it remains committed to structured, professional, and sustainable preparation programs to maximize Indonesia’s chances of reaching the final stage. ***
